About me

At a glance

I am always driven towards research topics that require cross-disciplinary skills, using machine learning methods in various applied contexts.

Bio & resume

How I got here

I received my master’s degree in Physics and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 2001 and 2005, respectively, working on kernel functions engineering for regularization methods in machine learning applied to image content understanding. I currently am Associate Professor of Computer Science with the University of Genoa at the Machine Learning Genoa center.

Research

My scientific interests

My main research interests are in the field of machine and deep learning spanning from the study of robust and reproducible variable selection methods to the understanding and visualization of complex structured network data. I aim at using such tools in real-world applications to propose solutions for wicked complex problems.
